Overview

Lok-ia Kez was founded durring the late 13th century in summer of the year 1194, by Kielne Sorthonoc. The establishment of Lok-ia Kez was only bairly constructed. The sheer number of problems with its founding were enough to make several of the backers funding Lok-ia Kez's construction back out of the project. Kielne Sorthonoc pushed on reguardles, and Lok-ia Kez was finished, but starts off as a terible place to live.

Lok-ia Kez was built using the conventions of Wood Elven durring the late 13th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Lok-ia Kez is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature timber framed wooden shiethed or brick construction, which gives form to a very formalized, rational, expence effishent arcatectural style based on strictly symmetrical designs which universaly feature pitched roofs, shutters, and the occasional column or pilaster for a decorative touch.

Lok-ia Kez is is constructed arround a series of restrictive cobblestone mainstreets which form concentric circles, with smaller strait roads linking the circiles to each other at varrious points. The town resides behind a palisade wall complete with battlments, a moat, and timber gatehouses with drawbridges. The town's robustly designed timber walls are visibly old, but also obviously well maintained. Its likly the local malishia or garrison are tasked with routine mantance of the town's defences.

A look around Lok-ia Kez gives the unmistakable impression the town is one of the strictest places imaginable. Everyone’s actions are clearly directed by laws they keep in heart and mind at all times. Orderly byond order is a phrase which Lok-ia Kez brings to mind.

Cultural Notes

Religious leaders are influential in almost any community, but in Lok-ia Kez they make up the final authorities. It may be an explicit theocracy, with rule by the clerics of a particular faith, or a temple might be so important and powerful that the official leaders are helpless to resist its will. The locals can be expected to be loyal adherents to the faith, or else the less pious majority is deeply intimidated by the religion’s believers.

Lok-ia Kez's garrison was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by towering round arches, massive stone and brickwork, small windows, thick walls, and a propensity for housing art and sculpture depicting mythological scenes. The building's general shape would be a clever and ascetic combination of geometric shapes, which would be blended together by joining elements. The style's decorative features were largely internal rather than external and incorporated semicircular arches for windows, doors, and arcades; barrel or groin vaults to support the roof of the nave; massive piers and walls, with few windows, to contain the outward thrust of the vaults; side aisles with galleries above them..

In Lok-ia Kez all of the cats speak in a dead language.

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century, Lok-ia Kez was attacked by soldiers from another nation, waging a greater campaign. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Lok-ia Kez lost 172 people, 330 livestock, and 73 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 98, when members of Lok-ia Kez's militia enacted an operation to gain control of a particular mine. The operation was complicated by an outbreak of plague which struck the ranks, killing many and laying low many more. The conflict ended with pitched battle between both forces, which ended in victory for Lok-ia Kez's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Lok-ia Kez's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
